Our Ragged Life 100% Wool Blanket Yarn has fast become one of our favourite fabrics to rag rug with. It is super soft, excellent quality and comes pre-cut into a long strip for your convenience. What’s more, it’s a recycled product, so you can feel great knowing that you’re doing your bit for the planet.
Features and Benefits:
- It’s 100% wool, so it’s not only super soft, but also excellent quality. It’s an absolute pleasure to work with, and any rug or cushion made in blanket yarn will last for generations.
- Fabric yarn comes pre-cut into strips, which saves on cutting time. We recommend cutting the strips in half for ease of use and to make them go further, but that takes considerably less time than breaking down any item of clothing into strips.
- It looks gorgeous when rag rugged. The texture and depth of the fabric is just lovely (I’ve never made anything that hasn’t looked great in this yarn!)
- It’s sustainable. Our blanket yarn is made from offcuts from blanket production in Yorkshire, so you can rest assured that every ball you use is recycling.
- It goes far. Blanket yarn is thick, which means that it covers the hessian much quicker than most fabrics. This means that you can rag rug further apart and your rag rug creation will be done in no time.
Any other info: Please note, the amount of hessian covered with rag rugging depends on the technique used, so one ball of blanket yarn will go further when doing the loopy rag rug technique than the shaggy technique. To make a full 100 x 60cm rug in blanket yarn takes 8 balls in the shaggy technique, 7 in the short shaggy technique and 5 in the loopy technique.
