Pretty Pink Eco-Jewellery was founded in 2005 by Ilana Ewing, who began bringing artistically crafted seeds from her native Brazil to the streets of Edinburgh, Scotland. Ilana's blend of raw materials, colours and textures were created with respect, responsibility and heart. In 2018, Ilana partnered with a fellow Edinburgh resident and Brazil native Amália Wragg to create colourful, attractive and happy pieces that would allow the women to showcase their roots around Europe. Together, Ilana and Amália design and create stylish jewellery and jewellery kits using naturally and ethically sourced materials from the Amazon rainforest. At Pretty Pink Eco-Jewellery, we believe in taking care of our planet and taking care of our people. Many of our ethically sourced materials come from a renewable resource called Tagua, or Vegetable Ivory, the harvesting of which creates tens of thousands of jobs for South American residents.

We're a sustainable and ethical company that uses natural materials from the Amazon rainforest. Our business focuses upon the ethical and ecological benefits that our products have on the environment and the places our products come from. All the products we use are sustainably sourced and most of our materials are organic and biodegradable. The two main seeds we use in our jewellery-making kits are: Açaí Berry: A very important fruit to the Amazonian people, nothing is wasted from the açaí tree and its fruits, leaves, roots, palm heart, logs and bark are all used for different traditional, gastronomical and manufacturing purposes. Its leaves are used as roofing and its fruit’s pulp is used to make desserts, juices... and we use the seeds in our eco-jewellery. Tagua: Tagua or Vegetable Ivory is the seed pod of a Palm Tree which is endemic to the Amazon region. The tree’s seed pods are the only item harvested from the forest floor, nothing is picked or taken from the tree that is left to flourish again for the following years.
