Sakura began manufacturing crayons in 1924 with the launch of Cray-Pas the first ever crayon to mix oil with pigment. This was the first of many developments and was followed by Pigma Ink, Micron and Graphic and Brush Pens. Pigma ink is one of the most reliable archival inks and is still used by Architects, Calligraphers, Scientists, Artists, Cartoonists and Scrapbookers. Sakura, offer a broad range of brands including Gelly Roll, IDenti Pen, Koi, Permapaque, Zentangle and Quickie Glue and more recently launched new dimensional inks called Glaze and Souffle which give 3D embossed effects without the use of heat gun – these inks can be used on Paper, Glass, Ceramics, Metals and Plastics.
